What a fun time we had at our September meeting! We played “hangman” with words taken directly from our book: Robert Thorogood’s The Marlow Murder Group. We had several winners for points associated with guessing and spelling the correct word. Notepads with magnets are being mailed out to the winners.
This month’s meeting is in 10 days. I hope to see you at our October 22nd meeting. We’re reading ‘Til Death by Carol J. Perry. It’s a “witchy” book and fun for the time of year. We’re playing our dry version of “bobbing for apples” for the meeting. Get ready! The prize for the most apples is Sandra Lawrence’s Witch’s Garden: Plants in Folklore, Magic, and Traditional Medicine. It’s quite appropriate for the season, beautifully illustrated, and chock full of interesting information. If you’re writing a mystery of any kind—this is the book to have by your side. The book committee is rooting for you to win!!
We have a new contest. Check out our Contest page - it’s not too difficult to write a first chapter using one of the first paragraphs written by Rosemarie and Stephanie. Choose one and let your imagination go wild.
Tahlia and I are working on the 2024 booklist for our club. We’d like to honor your suggestions. If you let me know by message on the Meetup site or email me at ksdiskin@yahoo.com, or put your book idea via the contact form on our Contact Us page, we’ll include it for 2024. This coming year we’re interested in including a few authors’ works from other countries besides the United States and Great Britain. Cozy mysteries are popular internationally and visiting another culture is a good trip without suitcases.
As a sidenote, don’t be shy about attending a meeting even if you haven’t finished the month’s book. It’s fun to have you at the meeting and we want to see you on Zoom.
