April News for A Cozy Death Mystery Book Club

Reading the news for The Cozy Death Mystery Book Club

Reading the news for The Cozy Death Mystery Book Club . . .

We had a fun meeting in March. The book was Sharon Short’s Death of a Domestic Diva. If you didn’t go to the meeting and didn’t read the book, you might spend some free time checking it out. It’s an easy read and has some excellent stain removal tips. I promised that I’d make a list of them but haven’t gotten to it. The list is on my “to do” items.

This month we’re reading The Mistress of Bhatia House by Sujita Massey. The book, if you’re not familiar, is a light mystery, but chock full of cultural information for India prior to its independence. The book resonates with today’s political climate in regard to women’s autonomy and choices. When Tahlia and I put the book on the list for the year we had no idea that its themes would be so timely. I hope that we see you at April’s meeting. It’s on April 28th. There’s still plenty of time to sign up.

I want to encourage each of you to sign up for the website. It’s www.acozydeath.com and so far is much more reliable on the internet than the Meetup site. We’ll continue to use Meetup for organizational reasons, but it does go down fairly often (so, so annoying!!). As far as the website is concerned, Tahlia and I keep learning the site’s little intricacies. Next month we should have the trick with the calendars solved (sometimes using the different sites on the internet makes me feel inadequate – when I watch the teenagers they seem so brave about the internet. I’m always taken by surprise when I learn something new as if I’m back in elementary school.).

Have you watched the latest episodes to Death in Paradise and Father Brown? They’re on Britbox. I won’t spoil the endings of each, but they’re quite satisfying. Now I have to catch up with Beyond Paradise. I understand that they’re about to start filming another spinoff of the Paradise franchise. The latest will take place in Australia. Fun.

We’re about to start a new contest series. We’ve explored writing first sentences, first paragraphs, and first chapters. We’ll announce the new type of contest at April’s meeting. Like I said, there’s still time to sign up.

See you on the 28th –

            Fondly,

            Karin
