February News for A Cozy Death Book Club
February Meeting on 2/23
We’re meeting on Zoom at 2:00pm Pacific time
REMINDER!.
Sunday February 23rd our monthly meeting will be on Zoom at 2:00 pm Pacific time. We read The Dead and Their Vaulted Arches by Alan Bradley. The novel is considered by many as the best in his series so far. There’s still time to RSVP for a meeting that promises to be an hour or so of very lively discussion and even livelier game playing. The game for Sunday is called “Story Cubes.” Each die has a different icon on each of its six sides. The player is able to ask for 3 dice to be spun and dropped. The player has to make a complete sentence out of the 3 icons showing on the dice. In the past we’ve had some keen competition and hilarious sentences. RSVP and be part of the hilarity!
Don’t forget to RSVP for the March 23rd event. Heather Weidner already has us scheduled on her website and I can’t wait to have her visit. She’s written a slew of novels. We encourage you to read at least one of her novels so that you know her writing style and typical plotting. You’ll be better able to ask Heather some questions about her various book series. I’ll send out some sample questions before the meeting date to give you a notion of what one might ask. I look forward to seeing you on Zoom.
LAST MONTH’S
TOP STORIES
From January 26th
We played Jeopardy with questions from January’s novel: Richard Osman’s We Solve Murders. Jen. came in first, Donna came in second, and Clark came in third.
We have the email for Donna, but need the email for Jen and Clark. If you send it to ksdiskin@yahoo.com we can send out the prizes!
Book Review Forms
We have a sample of a format for book reviews which we’ll put on the website under Fun Things. It’s from an Erica Condren notebook and we think it is an excellent form to keep a record of what you’ve read. Quite honestly, often I don’t remember when I’ve started a book so I leave that section blank. The other embarrassing reason is that I usually read more than one book at a time depending on whether I’m in one room or the other. Silly, but there it is -- a noble confession. Download the form if you think it might be useful.
