June Blog
Some of you know that my walking must now be supported by something. I have a rollator, but many times the apparatus makes it more difficult to get simple chores done. For example, in the kitchen the rollator is cumbersome to twist and turn so that I’m able to get out ingredients to cook. While baking used to be an enjoyable hobby, it’s now a fight with myself to organize what has to be done in the order the apparatus enjoys and not me! Well, long story short, my daughter had some wallpaper put up in the hallway leading to the laundry area along with beautiful gold bars. I can now be somewhat independent in that area of the house. Bars can mean freedom for me and I’m so glad.
My event calendar is reminding me that June has splendid celebration days. I missed National Nail Polish Day on June 1st (and my nails are the worse for it) but can look forward to National Cheese Day on the 4th and National Veggie Burger Day on the 5th. I haven’t purchased Impossible Hamburgers from the grocery store but now will on Wednesday. The day that I’m looking forward to most especially is National Ballpoint Pen Day on the 10th. We use computers so much that ballpoint pens really should have a national recognition day!
My June calendar is bursting with my “promises to self” to do list. On the list is the Do It Yourself Book Nook model I have to put together. Diana, my daughter, would like to display it on one of the bookshelves. It’s very intricate with itty bitty pieces. It’s number eleven on my list preceded by exercising daily and finishing a needlepoint I started. Number one is completing the summary and an outline of book 2 in my Three Teachers’ Mysteries. There’s no rest for the weary!
I hope that you enjoy Murder at the Vicarage by Agatha Christie as much as I do. It’s quite different from the adaptations on BritBox. There are 2, the older version from the 1980’s and the more current version. Speaking of the adaptations – I’m still trying to locate the dish set that is shown on the more recent version. It’s actually also shown on Body in the Library, but just the teacup. I have explored Replacement Dishes, Royal Albert, and eBay and still can’t find them. If any of you have a clue or another place to explore, please let me know. Right now, it’s still a mystery!
See you at our meeting, June 23rd on Zoom.
