January News for A Cozy Death Book Club

We’re meeting January 26th for our next meeting. I hope everyone enjoyed We Solve Murders by Richard Osman. It’s our book for the meeting. We’ll be playing Jeopardy for the second half of our meeting. Don’t forget to RSVP!  By the way, the list of books for 2025 is on our website under “The List” and 2025. It’s complete for the year so that you can reserve your books, read as fast as you choose, or share with someone else.

Last month our group read Sophie Hannah’s Hercule Poirot’s Silent Night. Most of us decided that there were several times that the author used phrases that were out of keeping with the decade she was describing. We’ll be giving Sophie Hannah a rest for a time. Our meeting was very holiday spirited with emphasis on “spirited.” We played Scrabble and had 2 winners. Prizes will be sent out this week. The game was fierce. Our members are quite competitive!

Next month our group’s book is The Dead in Their Vaulted Arches by Alan Bradley. It promises to be an intricate mystery with the protagonist a twelve year old chemistry buff. It’s supposed to be one of his better books in the Flavia de Luce series.

The fires have put a general pall over the city. I hope that you and yours are safe. Let us know if you’ve been affected by the fires. Perhaps one or more of the members can help out. We all want to support each other, especially in critical times such as these. You can message me on the Meetup site or use my email: ksdiskin@yahoo.com

Stay safe and healthy,

Karin Diskin
